ABOUT US
Kootenay River Runners has been in operation since 1976 in this area and we are proud of our friendly personalized trips. DARYL BESPFLUG and LINDA IRVINE have been the operators for 19 years with all the necessary training and experience. Over 40,000 guests have rafted with Kootenay River Runners.
All our guides are trained in first aid, CPR and licensed by the River Outfitters Association of British Columbia. Our guides have a wealth of river experience, including rafting in Eastern and Western Canada, the USA, Australia, New Zealand, Europe and South America. Our guides are friendly and hospitable, and enthusiastically share their knowledge of the natural and geographical history of the area.
Based in the Windermere Valley near Radium Hot Springs, British Columbia, Kootenay River Runners has offices in Radium Hot Springs and Banff, Alberta. The Kootenay River runs south through Kootenay National Park on the west slope of the Canadian Rockies.
The Kicking Horse runs through Yoho National Park and the Kicking Horse Canyon toward Golden B.C. The White River joins the Kootenay south of Kootenay National Park.
WILDERNESS DELI
Our food has become such a well known feature of our full-day and over-night trips that many of our repeat guests now refer to Kootenay River Runner "float and bloat" trips. A typical lunch on the river includes a handsome variety of meats and cheeses, several kinds of fresh-baked bread and pastries, salads, fruits, juices and soft drinks. Dinner and breakfast on the over-night trips reflect the same attention to variety and quality.
