THE KOOTENAY RIVER
Trip #2
The Kootenay is one of the prettiest rivers in the Rockies. The
stretch we run is not in view of any road, and winds through spectacular country. Although white water isn't the focus on this
trip, the Class Three waves along the route add to the
fun.
Families with younger children could not find a better river to raft. The rapids add excitement in a safe way, and the wilderness setting often turns up bear, moose, elk, deer and a variety of birds. Everyone can participate on the Kootenay trips.
Groups who have limited time take advantage of the half day trips, either in the morning at 9:00 am, or in the afternoon at 2:00 pm. The afternoon trips require a minimum number of 8 and should be booked well in advance. Groups enjoy the break from the conference or golf game, and the time to get away.
The full day trip is an extension of the half day, and well worth staying on for if you can. The style of the river doesn't change much as you move downstream, but the wilderness feeling intensifies as the miles go by.
Once your trip on the Kootenay is complete, our driver will be
waiting to take you back to Radium Hot Springs. Keep your eyes
open as you ride back. We often spot wildlife alongside the road.
