NW Take Off with view to Lake Windermere and Invermere. Landing Site is on end of the lake to the right.

 

The 26th Annual Lakeside Event is a fun event for Hang Gliders, Paragliders. Hang gliders and Paragliders will take off from Mt. Swansea and have a water landing contest beside the Lakeside Pub. In addition there is also a aerobatic contest for Paragliders happen above Lake Windermere. After the contest follows a great party with the live band "Cronic" for all pilots of any aircraft, family, friends and spectators.

Pilots meeting & registration at
James Chabot Prov. Park (Lakeside Pub) at 11am.

Entry fee:
$25.00 includes T-Shirt, BBQ and Party at Lakeside Pub to follow.  Additional BBQ & Party Tickets can be purchased for $20.00.
(Helicopter lift for Hang Glider can be arranged for $20.00)
Free Helicopter  lift for Hang Gliders (no Harness/Pilot) for Pilots who register before July 15th/2002.
Free transportation for Paragliders who register before July15th/2002.

Requirement:
HPAC insurance, International Pilots Welcome.
Pilots who do not feel comfortable to land at the beach can land at a big field below Mt. Swansea.
Note: Mt. Swansea is a advanced launch site and we recommend to have at least 150 mountain flights and good/controlled launch skills.

Date: Friday August 9th
Place: The Invermere Airport (Soaring Center at the end of the Airport)
Time: 8:00pm until Keg is empty
Free Bratwurst and Beer

Registration and Pilot's Meeting
Date: August 10th 2002
Place: The Lakeside Pub
Breakfast: 9:30 am at the Lakeside Pub
Pilot meet: 11:00am Sharp
Registration fee: $25
you can enter the following categories:

Hang Gliding Target Landing at the Lake (price money $1000)
Paragliding Target Landing at the Lake (price money $1000)
Hang Gliding Target Landing at Mt. Swansea Landing Site (surprise)
Paragliding Target Landing at Mt. Swansea Landing Site (surprise)
Hang Gliding Acrobatics (Beer)
Paragliding Acrobatics (Beer)

We recommend dropping off your hang glider at the Airport (Heli pad) either Friday night or Saturday early morning.

BBQ and Party with the Band "Cronic"
Date: Saturday August 10th
Time: 6:30pm for the BBQ
8:30pm for the dance and awards
All contest entrants shall receive complimentary BBQ and party tickets. For family members and
Friends who want to join the pilots for dinner and/or the party
BBQ and Party Tickets for non- pilots are $ 20.00 per each
Tickets for the party only are $ 5.00 per each

Accommodations
Invermere has a variety of accommodations to meet a variety of budgets and needs.
Camping is available at Dry Gulch Provincial Camp or Red Streak National Park
Accommodations are available at the Wandering Rogue Hostel as well. Phone 250 342 3445

You may also camp at the airport or at Jim's place (250 342-6318) without Facilities (port Potties at the Airport)

Washroom and Shower Facilities
Washroom and Shower Facilities are available at James Chabot Beach (Beach where event is happening)

Some Rules and Regulations

n order to keep the competition moving and entertaining for the spectators, we are requesting that Your first flight of the day is your competition flight. We suggest one or two turns to get lift near the Mountain then head out into the valley and approach the landing target. For those wishing to X Country And Thermal please do so on your second flight.
If you don't make the Landing at the lake on your first attempt you may make a second attempt.
Only one entry per pilot but any Pilot may enter more than one category.
Complains are only accepted with a $50 non refundable deposit at the landing judge (Haver)
If there should be a tie on the target landing it will be further judged by your landing style.
